TRENTON, N. J. (AP) -- The Food and Drug Administration's latest effort to make sex-related erectile dysfunction treatment easier for men to get is aimed at improving a pill that's been in use for almost a decade. But when Pfizer, the world's largest drugmaker, has asked a New Jersey-based doctor to stop selling Viagra to men with erectile dysfunction, the company said it was making other erectile dysfunction pills that are still sold by other companies.
"I'm surprised that you have to ask the question again," said Dr. Bruce Lamm, a cardiologist at Mount Sinai. "You have to ask the question again. The drug does not have a drug. I have heard it's a little bit more expensive but it's very inexpensive."
Viagra's U. S. patent for the pill expired in 2002. The pill's manufacturer Pfizer said Pfizer had to stop selling the drug after it received an order from the FDA for two similar pills that are similar to the one Pfizer had approved for use in women.
Because of the FDA ruling, the FDA said that Pfizer and other companies would not be allowed to produce or market Viagra and other related erectile dysfunction drugs for other U. customers because the FDA's rules do not allow them to produce erectile dysfunction drugs for the U. market.
But Pfizer said it could not comment on whether it would approve the use of Viagra or any other product it makes for other U. customers.
Viagra is a treatment for men with erectile dysfunction. In order to treat erectile dysfunction, a man must be experiencing it or the condition will go away.
The drug, called Sildenafil, is one of several options for men who have erectile dysfunction, including men who are taking medications such as Viagra. Pfizer said it has not made any changes to its treatment plans for Sildenafil.
A spokesman for Pfizer said the company's decision to stop selling the drug was made in response to an FDA investigation into the company's drug sales.

The cheapest erectile dysfunction (ED) pills are generic Viagra, called.
The term "generic" refers to the active ingredient of a medicine or drug rather than to the advertised brand name under which the medicine is sold. It is a term referring to any drug marketed under its chemical name without advertising.
Pfizer made the originaltablet that is often referred to as the “blue pill”.The patent expired in 2013 which then allowed other pharmaceutical manufactures to make a generic version under the name of the active ingredient called Sildenafil. They are exactly the same medically and perform in the same way with the same side-effects.
As with most branded products, Viagra is sold at a higher price, therefore the generic tablets sold asare much cheaper.
Medically there is no difference between a generic medicine and the branded medicine, as they both have the same active ingredients to make them perform in the same way. They only differ in the “bulking” agents used to fill the tablet as the amount of active ingredient required, in this case Sildenafil, is very small. This makes the tablets bigger and easier to handle.
The main difference between generic andbranded named prescription medicines is cost with generics being much cheaper
Every pharmacy can choose what price they sell at, as there are no fixed prices. It will depend on what price the pharmacy can buy the drug from the wholesaler and the cost of their own overheads. They can they decide what mark-up they require and some pharmacies choose to sell some products at higher prices.

Those online pharmacies who are not registered with the CQC either use pharmacist prescribers or foreign doctors.
You will then know and have the confidence that all the brands being offered are genuine and will work in the same way. All the pharmaceutical companies are inspected by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to ensure they manufacturer the drugs to the same quality standard. This means that the key ingredient that is referred to as the “active” ingredient is exactly the same in all brands.
The other inactive ingredients that make up the bulk of the tablet are called “excipients” and can vary.
For those people who are allergic to or have an intolerance to lactose, then the is ideal for you as it is lactose free. You can check the additional excipients on the patient information leaflet supplied with your tablets.
Although medically all the generic tablets are identical, they may look different as they can vary in colour, shape and size due to the varying excipients.
The patent for, owned by Pfizer, expired in July 2013, which then allowed other pharmaceutical companies to produce generic. There are a number of companies now manufacturing which include Accord, Ajanta, Dr Reddy’s, Mylan, Teva, Torrent and Zentiva. Asult ofViagraand its generic form,Sildenafil, has been a popular treatment for erectile dysfunction since its introduction in the late 1990s. The drug was developed and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998 for men over the age of 40. Although Sildenafil has not yet received FDA approval for the treatment of ED, it has been shown to be as effective as Viagra and has shown a significant improvement in sexual function in more than 80% of men in the ED treatment group. However, because of the side effects and interactions, it is recommended that generic versions of Sildenafil be used instead.
Generic Viagra is a popular medication for its active ingredient, sildenafil citrate. The active ingredient is sildenafil citrate, which is the same molecule as the active ingredient in Viagra. Sildenafil citrate is present in both Viagra and generic Viagra, meaning that it is available in two forms that are not interchangeable.
Sildenafil Citrateis the generic version of the drug. It is not available as a generic version.
Generic Viagra is an oral medication. It is an oral tablet taken orally, or as a subcutaneous injection, which is injected directly into the muscle. The effects of Sildenafil are similar to those of Viagra, and the most common side effects include dizziness, headache, nausea, and flushing. Sildenafil can also have some milder effects such as prolonged erections, which are usually reversible. Because of the differences in effectiveness, the majority of men who take Sildenafil use it as a first-line treatment.
Sildenafil is also an option for men with severe erectile dysfunction (ED) who cannot take oral medications or have a history of heart-related issues.Sildenafil is available by prescription only. In addition, men who have taken nitrates or alpha-blockers should not take Sildenafil. This may result in a sudden and potentially dangerous drop in blood pressure.
If you are experiencing erectile dysfunction or have recently had an erection lasting more than 4 hours, you should seek medical help immediately. If you have a history of heart disease or diabetes, you should inform your doctor. Sildenafil can cause some serious side effects, including chest pain, a sudden decrease in blood pressure, and a loss of hearing. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop taking Sildenafil and contact your doctor immediately. Sildenafil may also cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, and you should seek medical help immediately. If you experience chest pain, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting, seek medical attention immediately.
You should not take Sildenafil if you are allergic to it, or if you have recently had an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours. If you experience an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, stop taking Sildenafil and contact your doctor immediately.
Sildenafil is also available in generic forms that are identical or similar to Sildenafil. Sildenafil can also be taken with or without food. Do not take Sildenafil with grapefruit juice or alcohol. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the proper way to take Sildenafil.
Sildenafil should not be taken more than once a day.Taking more than the recommended dose of Sildenafil may increase the risk of side effects. If you take more than the recommended dose of Sildenafil, you should contact your doctor immediately. Sildenafil should be used with caution in patients with heart problems or a history of stroke.
